Marbled Duchess Banana Bread
Take your banana bread up a notch by adding Duchess Hot Chocolate.
My family loves when we make a marbled banana bread using Duchess Hot Chocolate! It adds a rich chocolate flavor to a classic treat.
The recipe below contains dairy & wheat but you can make any substitutions you need to. It's a very forgiving recipe that really allows you to play around and make it your own.
Makes 1 loaf
- 3 overripe bananas (mashed)
- 1/3 cup melted salted butter (or dairy free alternative)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup all purpose flour (or gluten free alternative baking flour)
- 1 egg (or 1/3 cup applesauce)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup Duchess Hot Chocolate mix
Prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Mash your bananas with a stand mixer or fork. Add your melted butter and mix that with the bananas.
- Add all the other ingredients EXCEPT for the Duchess Mix and beat for a few minutes (either with your stand mixer or with a spoon or whisk).
- In a small separate bowl, mix the 1/2 cup of Duchess mix and a 1/2 cup of the batter you have just created. This will make a delicious deep chocolate batter.
- Pour half of your banana bread batter to the greased lined pan then add half of the chocolate batter in dollops. Add the remaining banana bread batter and then add the last of the chocolate batter in dollops again.
- Take a knife and gently swirl the batter in the pan to create a marble effect. When you're happy with your beautiful loaf, place it on the middle shelf of the oven and bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick poked into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
When cooked, remove from the oven, allow to cool in the loaf pan for 10 minutes then remove and allow to cool on a wire rack (if you can wait that long!).
Cheers!
